Virtual Visits
We understand that having an in-person visit is not always convenient. The Covid-19 pandemic brought significant changes to the virtual healthcare landscape. In the past few years, we faced challenges that led us to adjust some policies to meet the demands of the pandemic.
In some cases, we may still require a virtual visit if the provider believes it is in the best interest of the patient and staff. However, this is an exception, as most of our visits will require an in-person appointment. We need to physically assess you in order to make the best decisions regarding your treatment. Virtual visits will only be agreed upon if the provider determines that it is safe to do so.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is the governing entity that finalizes rulings affecting Medicare telehealth services. Starting in 2025, they will reinstate pre-pandemic restrictions on where and who can provide telehealth services. Currently, through March 31, 2025, you can receive telehealth services at any location in the U.S., including your home.
Visalia Family Practice is monitoring these changes and will update our policies as they progress.
